Formula 1 is an annual World Championship for open-wheel circuit racing. It is considered the highest class of competition for open-wheel race cars. The 2024 F1 calendar includes 24 races taking place from March 2nd to December 8th. Traditionally, the races are held from Friday to Sunday. The exception in the 2024 Formula 1 calendar will be the stages in Bahrain, Las Vegas and Saudi Arabia, where the races will run from Thursday to Saturday.

Another new addition to the 2024 racing calendar was the return of China to the list of Grand Prix host nations. In April a race was held at the Shanghai International Circuit, becoming the fifth Grand Prix of the year.

On average, 2-3 Grands Prix take place per month. The busiest months on the 2024 Formula 1 calendar are March, May, June, July and September, when races held in different countries occur almost every weekend, requiring drivers to travel from country to country.
