About the event and venue

The Shanghai International Circuit was built by Hermann Tilke. The track is 5.451 km long and features 16 turns. Its contours follow the Chinese character "上." The complex opened in 2003, and the first Formula 1 Grand Prix was held there in 2004. In 2019, the round in Shanghai became the 1,000th in the history of the championship. The organizers have introduced new rules: smaller cars, active aerodynamics, and updated power units.
