Argentina's government plans to bring back Formula 1 Grand Prix

At the end of the summer, it was announced that the Argentine driver, a member of the Williams junior program, competing in Formula 2, will replace Logan Sargent until the end of this year.

Sargent spent many years at Williams, competing in almost forty prestigious Grands Prix, but was seriously injured in the third practice of the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort and crashed his car badly. He will remain with the team, which greatly supports him, but the Argentine Franco has now been appointed Williams' main driver.

The last Argentine Grand Prix took place in 1998 at the Oscar Juan Galvez Autodromo in Buenos Aires. Now the Minister of Tourism, Sports and Environment Development has put forward an initiative to return the Grand Prix to his country. Daniel Scioli emphasized in his interview that this is important for every Argentine, because his country lives not only on football. If the initiative is supported, Argentina will first need to restore the race track. This is not a cheap pleasure for a poor country - according to experts, at least twenty million dollars will be needed. But this will have to be done, otherwise FIFA will not approve the category needed for Formula 1. Also, according to the official statement of the Argentine authorities, Minister Scioli will come to discuss with the management of Formula 1 the resumption of the Argentine stage of the Brazilian Grand Prix, which will soon be held in Sao Paulo.
