2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku: Race participants announced

This year, the winner of the last Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri from Australia, will also take part in the race. However, he is currently in fourth place with thirty-four points. Lando Norris (Great Britain) currently ranks first in the drivers' standings with forty-four points. In second place with thirty-six points is the Dutchman Max Verstappen (Netherlands). George Russell closes the top three with thirty-five points.

Lando Norris is a well-known Formula 1 driver. At the age of 7, his early interest in motocross turned to karting, which led to him becoming the youngest CIK-FIA KF Karting World Champion at the age of 14. His rapid progress in motorsport secured him a place in the McLaren Formula 1 team in 2019, when he was just twenty years old. Despite some on-track incidents, Norris has had a successful career, with his achievements including a podium finish at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix. He also enjoys interacting with fans through gaming and streaming. Known for his unique helmet design and racing number four, Norris is considered a promising talent for his future in Formula 1.

Max Verstappen is one of the brightest drivers in the top division. His third-place finish in 2020 with Red Bull Racing earned him millions in bonuses. He went one better in 2021, winning the Formula 1 Drivers’ Title after overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the final race. The 2022 season has been more of a lap of honour, with Verstappen winning fifteen races to take the Drivers’ Title and lifting Red Bull to the Constructors’ Championship. In 2023, Verstappen raised the bar even higher, taking nineteen wins out of a possible twenty-two to win his third Drivers' Championship. He won his fourth title in a row in 2024.

George Russell is a British racing driver who competes in Formula One for Mercedes in the #63 car. He was a member of the Mercedes Junior Team from 2017 to 2021, before making his Formula One debut at the Australian Grand Prix, partnering Robert Kubica at Williams. Russell's smooth driving style saw him replace Lewis Hamilton at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, and he later took over from Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes, partnering Lewis Hamilton. 2023 was not a very successful year for the driver, but in 2024 Russell won the Austrian and Las Vegas Grand Prix. This victory in Las Vegas brought Russell a record. He became the seventh driver to win more than one race in the 2024 season, and broke the previous record of six winners in a year, set in the 1981 season.
