Verstappen's Hungarian failure: title battle will be tight

It was already clear in Saturday's qualifying that the weekend would be challenging: Verstappen failed to secure pole position, losing out to the Ferrari and McLaren drivers. His problems worsened in the race itself. A poor start dropped him several positions, and the subsequent battle in dense traffic on the narrow Hungarian track, where overtaking is extremely difficult, prevented him from recovering. The team also made a tactical error with tire selection during the only pit stop, which completely ruined Max's chances of fighting for a podium. As a result, he finished only ninth and lost a significant number of points.

This result was a real gift for his main competitors, who took full advantage of the leader's misstep. Now, before the summer break, Verstappen's lead in the driver standings has significantly narrowed, and the second half of the season promises to be a real thriller.

And while the teams analyze their mistakes and prepare for the decisive battles, all eyes are on the grand finale of the championship, which will traditionally take place in Abu Dhabi. It is at the Grand Prix, often called the Dubai Grand Prix due to its luxury and proximity to the emirate, that the name of the world champion will be determined from 5th to 7th December 2025. The round at the Yas Marina Circuit will be the culmination of a busy season.
